Week of 10/31/16-11/4/16

SOUTHSIDE NEWS - Week of 10/31/16-11/4/16

On 10/31/16, we will hold one of our Team Spirit Days!  Students and staff are encouraged to show their team colors and name in tribute to their team!

Our Volleyball team was supported by our first traveling fan group.  The "Spartan Fan Bus" brought students and staff to the game in Nashua this past Friday.  Our students, staff and parents cheered on our team as the sought to achieve the Tri-City Championship.

The team played with true grit, however they fell in game two to Hudson.  While the disappointment could be seen on many faces from our coaches to our athletes it is important to remember how successful this team has been all season!  The level of play has gone from passing the ball over the net to three hits coming from our side of the net.  In addition, the sportsmanship has been top notch throughout the season!

Our Spartan Fan Crew will be back on Thursday at 3:30 at Memorial to support the team as they chase down a City Championship to end their season!  We are looking forward to the "Southside".... "You Know" coming from our stands in support of our student athletes!  Best of luck to our team!

Our Spartan Pride will also be on display on Monday 10/31 at 3:30 at Prout Park as our Field Hockey team enters their play-offs.  Our team has shown a clear desire to respect and learn the game while displaying heart and grit on the field!  We are looking forward to supporting our team as they strive for an advancing play-off season!  Best of luck to our student-athletes!

Dear Parent/Guardians,

The purpose of this letter is to share our plan to complete the Higher Learning Opportunity survey with our 8th graders on Thursday, October 6.

Our guidance counselors will facilitate the completion of the survey in the following manner:
·         Students will complete the 5-10 minute survey in our lab in the library.  This format will allow any students who have opted out to remain on team in their classroom.  We developed this plan to reduce the amount of classroom disruption and to maximize time in the classrooms.

If you wish to opt your student out of the survey, please send in your letter or email by Wednesday, October 5.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 624-6359.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Gillis
